Invitation
In response to the trend of globalization of economic and technological development, a number of international organizations have been established to foster collaboration in engineering education and research. Among these organizations, the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) formed in 2008 has been very active in building a network of engineering education leaders, including those from both developed and developing countries or regions.
In the GEDC annual conference held in Beijing last year, which covered engineering topics in a global perspective, a number of Asian engineering deans and I felt that an Asian Engineering Deans Summit was needed to further discuss engineering relevant issues specific to Asian needs and decided to have this meaningful event held in Hong Kong.
The aims of the Asian Engineering Deans Summit include, but not limited to:
- To explore ways to provide and enhance quality engineering education in Asia
- To strengthen research collaborations especially in the areas of Biomedical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Security, etc.
- To explore new research opportunities
- To have an overview of the technology related policies in different Asian countries (cities) so as to learn from each other and improve existing policies
We cordially invite deans of engineering schools in Asian countries/regions to attend the meeting in hopes of sharing our experience in Hong Kong to other Asian countries and learning from them to enhance our own engineering education quality.
I look forward to seeing you in the Summit.
Yours sincerely,
