Dean of Engineering Professor C. P. Wong named 2012 winner of Dresden Barkhausen Award

Dean of Engineering Professor C. P. Wong is selected to receive the 2012 Dresden Barkhausen Award. The Dresden Barkhausen Award is granted for outstanding scientific results in applied research and development at frontier areas between physics, materials science, and electrical engineering.

The award is granted by the Material Research Network Dresden (MFD), the Fraunhofer Institute for Nondestructive Testing Dresden and the University of Technology Dresden in memorial of Professor Heinrich Barkhausen who acted as a faculty for Electrical Engineering in Dresden from 1911 to 1953....

Seventeen Engineering Professors Named Fellows of Hong Kong Institute of Engineers

Seventeen engineering professors have been named fellows of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (HKIE) recently, breaking the record for the number of fellows awarded by HKIE at one time. Fellow is the highest class of membership in the HKIE to recognize those who have achieved positions of responsibility to which he/she has brought superior knowledge and practice in an engineering discipline. Engineering Professors Elected IEEE Fellow 2013

Two more engineering professors have been elected 2013 fellows of the prestigious Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Prof. Yum Tak-Shing from the Department of Information Engineering was named an IEEE Fellow for his contributions to the architecture and resource management of communication networks. Prof. Helen Meng Mei-Ling from the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management was recognized by IEEE for her for contributions to spoken language and multimodal systems.

The IEEE is the world's largest professional organization, with more than 400,000 members in over 160 countries. IEEE members play a vital role in computer science, electronics, telecommunications and engineering fields etc. Fellowship is the highest grade of membership and one of the most prestigious honours the IEEE can bestow upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest.
