In regard to the ERG+BBA double degree option, there is no separate JUPAS code for it. In order to qualify for application for the double degree option, the applicant has to apply and be admitted to one of the Engineering Major programmes first. After he/she has been admitted to one the Engineering Major programmes, he/she would be invited to make application for the double degree option if he/she is qualified. The initial admission criteria for a JUPAS applicant to meet is to achieve an admission score not lower than the admission score of the IBBA Programme last year. The admission score is based on a formula which computed based on the HKCEE and HKALE results of the students. It is unlikely for us to tell you how much score you should achieve to secure admission to the double degree option at this stage. However, for the reason that the double degree option will involve very heavy workload, it is expected that only students with very good academic results would be considered for admission. Apart from the admission score admission requirement, there are also other admission criteria a student has to fulfill before they could actually admit into the option during their course of study. Application for the admission to the double degree option by students in their second year of study might be considered. There is no laid down GPA requirement in the meantime but it is considered case by case. Again, only students with outstanding academic performance will be considered. Students could take BA courses in the first year, but quite a no. of the BA courses in the double degree programme are by random computer allocation and might also only open to BA Majors.

Answer: Applications for MPhil & PhD stream are accepted throughout the year. Yet you are advised to submit applications during the main round admission exercise. 答：中大的MAE課程與港大和科大的主要區別是，港大和科大的課程比較強調傳統的機械工程學科，例如流體力學(Fluid Mechanics)，傳熱(Heat Transfer)。而中大則著重一些具前瞻性的技術，例如機器人技術（Robotics），自動化( Automation) ，機電系統(Mechatronics)及智能機器(Intelligent machines)等等。

The main difference is that HKU and HKUST programmes emphasize much more on traditional mechanical engineering disciplines such as fluidic mechanics and heat transfer, while our Department emphasizes more on forward-looking technologies such as robotics, automation, mechatronics, and intelligent machines.

We believe that mechanical engineers of the future will need to be multi-dimensional in order to be leaders of corporations and R&D efforts worldwide, and hence our programme stresses more on systems integration than other mechanical engineering related programmes in Hong Kong.

Our programme is recognized worldwide — many top universities such as MIT, UCLA, USC, Cornell, etc. have provided post-graduate scholarships to our undergraduate students and allowed them to pursuit advanced degrees in mechanical-related fields. Our graduates have also been very successful in finding positions related to mechanical/automation/manufacturing engineering, and even in banking/finance and business areas, in Hong Kong and the PRD region.
