Two students (Wax Lam and Simon Wong) from the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management have designed a formula to predict the outcome of a team-based competition that can be applied in the Premier League, NBA, and Russian World Cup. It has been proven successful in reaching 50% accuracy. With this innovative design, the team has won in the student stream of the second B4B Big Data for Business Challenge Competition (B4B Challenge) co-organised by B4B Limited and Cyberport. There were a total of 34 teams participating in this competition.
