Prof. Liao Wei-Hsin Reaps 2018 SSM Lifetime Achievement Award

Prof. Liao Wei-Hsin, Associate Dean (Student Affairs) of the Faculty of Engineering and Professor, Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, has received 2018 SSM Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Society for Optics and Photonics for his sustained contributions to the advancement of smart structures and materials (SSM).

Prof. Liao’s research has led to publications of over 200 papers in international journals and conference proceedings, 16 granted patents. He was also the Conference Chair for the Active and Passive Smart Structures and Integrated Systems, SPIE Smart Structures/NDE in 2014 and 2015. He has been a recipient of the ASME Best Paper Awards in Structures (2008), Mechanics and Material Systems (2017). Prof. Liao is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Institute of Physics. 

 

The award is presented at the 25th Annual International Symposium on Smart Structures/Nondestructive Evaluation held in Denver, USA in March.
