中大研發極細內窺鏡機械臂減出血風險 獲醫學工程設計金獎

內窺鏡手術日漸普遍,但傳統內窺鏡的機械臂與鏡頭仿如連體嬰般不能分開控制,以致內窺鏡不能去到某些位置,或因鏡頭有盲點而機械臂在用協助第一期胃癌手術時,有機會刺得太深導致出血。中大一支7人研發隊伍就設計出兩個可以分開控制的極幼機械臂,直徑僅3.8毫米,同時兩臂一邊可以夾住胃膜,一邊可以進行切除腫瘤程序,有助減少病人出血及縮短手術時間。設計力壓40支來自全球的參賽隊伍,獲得中大「環球創新醫學工程設計大賽」(EMedic Global 2016)金獎、最佳香港隊伍獎及挑戰獎。

傳統內窺鏡手術因鏡頭與機械臂連在一起,處理腸胃第一期癌症檢查時,有機會因有盲點而刺穿腸道,中大研究團隊成功研發出直徑僅得三點八毫米、可與鏡頭分開控制的機械臂,易於掌握手術,有助降低刺穿腸胃出血風險,設計奪得中大舉行的全球首個「環球創新醫學工程設計大賽」金獎;中大另一個軟性腸道機械人設計可減少大腸檢測時所帶來的不適,獲得銅獎及最佳創意獎。

中文大學致力推動醫學工程發展,舉辦全球首個「環球創新醫學工程設計大賽」,吸引來自五大洲共四十支隊伍參加。中大團隊最終憑「內窺鏡手術機械人」贏得金獎,其機械臂直徑只得三點八毫米,可於狹窄空間進行複雜動作,且鏡頭可與機械臂分開,令內窺鏡手術更易掌握和降低風險,例如減低穿腸風險。
