政府遲起步 創科向錢看 集中App開發 港研AI落後歐美星

工智能(AI)具備學習能力,被視為新一場科技革命!美國微軟公司已成立約七千人的團隊主力研究AI,被視為本港的競爭對手新加坡亦已投資一億五千萬新加坡元(折合逾八億港元)發展AI;惟港府近年始起步推動AI,步伐遠遠落後於歐美、新加坡等地。在今屆被譽為科技奧林匹克的創夢盃(Imagine Cup)全球總決賽中,進身三十二強的香港代表隊直言,本港科創發展只集中應用程式(App)開發,與世界步伐脫節。有本港學者促港府增加大學資源推動AI研究。

CUHK and TCL Establish Collaboration in AI and Big Data Research

The Chinese University of Hong Kong and TCL Corporation Ltd (TCL) have entered a new era of collaboration by signing a strategic partnership agreement on 2 August 2017. Both parties are committed to promoting research in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data. The agreement will foster closer engineering collaboration between CUHK and TCL, and those are also the key strategic areas the Faculty of Engineering, CUHK strives for its research excellence.  

CUHK has been one of the pioneers in the research on AI and deep learning.  The CUHK Multimedia Laboratory was named as one of the pioneers in AI research in the GPU Technology Conference 2016. CUHK was the only institution in Asia to receive this recognition, alongside several internationally renowned universities.  Moreover, the research teams from Department of Information Engineering, Department of Electronic Engineering, Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management, as well as the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at CUHK are committed to developing a wide variety of AI applications.

中大生研動力義肢更輕更省力

中大工程生研發醫療輔助器材,獲「挑戰杯」創新獎。博士生高飛的團隊研發動力義肢,利用彈簧和電機為截肢者提供額外動力,讓截肢者走路更輕便省力。「後跟有一個推力,走路輕鬆很多。」一名截肢者測試後感嘆:「希望早點有賣!」目前該設計正申請中美專利。

助截肢者更省力 中大兩研究獲創新獎

將創新研究投入醫學應用,是提升醫療服務的重要一環。有香港中文大學工程學院研究生開發「動力型膝下義肢」,內設並聯彈簧將力量儲存及釋放,經測試證明可讓用家走路更省力,步態更自然。同系畢業生受蚯蚓爬行啟發而開展「軟性大腸檢測及手術平台」計劃,研發直徑僅18毫米的半自動軟性仿生機械人,透過充氣及放氣控制機械人於大腸行走和轉彎,未來有望提供安全又便宜的大腸癌檢查。

中文大學研究團隊,最近成功研發出一種氣體檢測系統,所使用的光聲光譜技術可大幅降低操作成本,且小巧便攜、靈敏度高,可快速準確地檢測如一氧化氮、一氧化碳及甲醛等多種對人體有害的污染物,亦可用於分析病人呼出的氣體成分,作為偵測疾病特徵的醫療輔助工具。
